Why goats?
Goats can help a family. in many ways. They provide milk, which can be used for nourishment and used to mix in teas/chais, and can be used for butter, cheese, and supplementing everyday foods.
These dairy products can also be sold for additional income, providing a sustainable revenue stream.
As many of these families have experience in farming, their knowledge in agriculture will also enable the goats to provide fertilizer and encourage better crop yields by helping to clear land.
Partner with a family and make all the difference.
How the program will work
Our goal is to sponsor support for 50 families, where each family will be provided a pair of young adult goats. Providing vital benefits for the recipient family, the program will also facilitate in building community engagement through a model of seeding support forward to another family.
When the goats of the primary recipient family produce offspring, they will gift the offspring to another family in the local village. With gestation being 6 months, the reach of 50 families will have expanded to 100 families in just a years time. By asking families to seed support forward, those participating in the program will be empowering other families as well.

Program accountability
Sponsors can expect updates from the program with pictures of the families, their goats and how they are doing.
Local village leaders, many of them our own sponsored Beloved Women, will work with their local pastors and church networks to organize and administer the program to ensure transparency and accountability, as well as program feedback.
They will coordinate the acquisition of the livestock, report on the family to Rise India, and ensure families send updates in a timely manner.
A small portion of the program proceeds will go to the administration of these activities to ensure it is running smoothly.
Project update:
beta test launch
Since the 2025 team came back, New Mercy launched the program in a beta test to gather feedback on the goat sponsorship program. In the past 3 months, it has proven to be a great success, even leading to a 2nd generation of goats!
