YOUTH GROUP PASTOR
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Youth Group Director would be involved in the planning of curriculum and events involved in growing a strong foundation for the spiritual formation of the youth group (6th-12 grade)
Job Description: 20 hrs / week
Compensation: $36,000
Requirements
Someone with a current seminary or teaching background or experience working with youth.
The Youth Group Director would be involved in the planning of curriculum and events involved in growing a strong foundation for the spiritual formation of the youth group (6th-12 grade)
New Mercy Community Church is an Intergenerational model and so we do not have a separate youth service. However we do have age based Sunday School. The youth group director would be working closely with the full time Education director.
Expectations:
1. Attend staff meetings once a week
2. Oversee the teachers and curriculum for the 6th-12 grade youth group
3. Plan and oversee FNF (friday night fellowship)
4. Plan and oversee Youth events and outings
5. Plan and oversee retreats and mission trips throughout the year
6. Meet with youth and build relationships with families during the week
7. Oversee the needs of the youth for two services 9:00 am and 11:00.
Long Range Goals
Work with full time pastors to come up with a spiritual formation plan for the youth group transition into college and young adulthood.

Round-Table Leadership

The body reflects the strengths and weaknesses of its most senior leader. Recognizing this potential weakness in the traditional church model, the founders of New Mercy established the church with a round-table leadership paradigm: instead of a senior pastor, we have a team of multiple co-pastors who work in conjunction with senior lay-leaders. This group collectively functions as New Mercy's "senior pastor."
This team-based leadership structure is configured to maximize the leaders’ strengths while overcoming their weaknesses. Not only does this structure provide accountability but it also serves as a support group for those pastors and leaders, which is absent in many models of church leadership today.
