Beholding Beloved

Over the past decade, New Mercy has been able to foster deeper relationships with some of the women who have attended the Beloved Conference.

In a few Karnataka churches, there have emerged a group of Beloved leaders, women of faith and influence in their local communities, who are active in ministering to others in their spheres of influence.

This year we feel called to support this group of women with love in tangible ways. Partner with us as we seek to help fund some of their most pressing needs.

  • Yasoda

    Tailoring Business (~$1,176), and Medical Needs (~$2,352)

    Yasoda is in need of support for her tailoring business. She currently teachers tailoring and needs 5 tailoring machines and support with her store rental deposit. Her 2 year old grandchild has a hole in his heart and needs prayer and medical treatment.

    Goat Farm (-$470) and Medical Needs (~$1,176)

    Renuka wants to start a goat farm as a way of supplementing income. She is also looking for financial assistance for her mother’s galbladder surgery.

    Shoba is seeking help with tuition for her two children. Her daughter wishes to pursue a BA in Nursing, and her second child also needs education support.

    Daisy is looking to start a small commodities/beauty supply store. She has worked for 3 years in a similar setting and has an existing client base. She is looking to start her own business venture.

    Mala’s son is in his 2nd year of a Master of Arts program and is looking for tuition help. She also wants 2 adult goats for additional income.

Our history: a journey of love & faith

Our Story

Our journey with the Devadasi women of Karnataka began in 2012, when our church sent a six-person team on a short-term mission trip to a small rural region in northern Karnataka. What we witnessed there—lives marked by hardship, yet full of resilience—left a permanent imprint on our hearts. In the face of deep injustice and cultural marginalization, we saw women with immeasurable worth in God’s eyes. We knew then that this was not a one-time trip, but the beginning of a long-term commitment.

In 2014, what was once called the “Devadasi Conference” was renamed the Beloved Conference, a name that reflects our core belief: these women are not defined by their past or social labels—they are God's beloved daughters. Since then, the Beloved Conference has become a sacred space for healing, worship, teaching, and celebration. Over the past ten years, more than 1,000 women have attended the conference, many returning year after year, finding not only support and encouragement, but also encountering the love of Jesus.

Today, we remain deeply committed to this calling. Through ongoing ministry, partnership with local leaders, and the continued gathering of the Beloved Conference, we carry a bold vision: to reach all 80,000 Devadasi women in Karnataka with the hope and restoration found in Christ.
